In Burma these days, there are really only two colors that people are talking about: red and green.
If you say “red,” you are no longer referring to Communism but rather to Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy (NLD), which uses the color as backdrop for the party’s fighting peacock and star emblem.
To talk “green” is to refer to the NLD’s main rival, the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), as green is likewise the background of its party banner.
