The 5th Al-Moumin Award and Lecture was hosted by American University's School of International Service, the Environmental Law Institute, and UN Environment on January 30. This year's awardees were Professors Ken Conca and Geoff Dabelko who, in 2002, published Environmental Peacemaking - one of the first major texts to make the case for the cooperative potential of the environment to foster peace. In addition to Professors Conca and Dabelko, the 5th Al-Moumin Award and Lecture also welcomed Ms. Sherri Goodman to the panel. Sherri Goodman is a Senior Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and a Senior Advisor for International Security at The Center for Climate and Security. Topics addressed include but are not limited to: cooperation over natural resources, environmental change, conflict sensitivity, and the role of government and the private sector in peacebuilding activities.
