CISP's activities are consistent with its statutes and concern the implementation of humanitarian, rehabilitation and development projects in third countries and solidarity campaigns, training programs, information, the fight against social exclusion and racism, education development and interculturality in Italy and Europe. All together, CISP's activities are aimed at realizing concrete conditions for the development and self-determination of peoples, the spread and respect of human rights and the fulfillment of the basic needs of the person.

WASH Expert for coordination of projects aimed to enhance local water systems and water access for Syrian refugees and Lebanese host communities

Duration: 12 months renewable. Tentative starting date: September/October 2017

Requirements:

  • Qualifications in a discipline related to Hydraulic Engineering / Water-related Civil Works / Water & Sanitation
  • Specific & demonstrated skills / technical experience in WASH (hydraulic engineering, design, management, implementation, supervision of hydraulic works, wash facilities, water networks, pumping stations, etc.)
  • Experience in WASH need assessments and gap analysis for development of WASH programmes
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in cooperation projects, management, specifically in the field of WASH, in emergency and relief, humanitarian aid, assistance to refugees, NFI’s distributions, etc.
  • Excellent understanding & experience of programme, financial and operational management processes
  • Experience / skills in projects' financial planning, administration, reporting
  • Experience / skills in procurement procedures and tendering. Background and knowledge of EC, Italian Cooperation and UN Rules and Regulations, UN (UNICEF, UNHCR, OCHA), projects' management systems, administrative & procurement procedures, tendering, is a preferential asset
  • Excellent communication capabilities and ability in reports' writing
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset
  • Computer literacy
  • Driving License
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. Flexibility, availability to perform other duties. Availability to work in security volatile context
  • Past working experience in Lebanon is an asset

Functions:

  1. Planning, coordination, management and monitoring of project activities, including needs assessment, beneficiaries
  2. Procurement and tendering procedures for works, equipment and other goods and services;
  3. Supervision and follow up of civil works’ selection, technical design and preparation of BoQ, follow up and supervision of civil works and technical interventions;
  4. Supervision of accountancy and administration
  5. Maintaining contacts with relevant local stakeholders, institutions, associations, cluster groups, donors, local authorities and International NGOs and agencies;
  6. Taking care of operational agreement with local authorities involved, as well as any needed authorization
  7. Drawing project documents, assessment reports, activity plans, interim / final reports, financial reports, etc.
  8. Management of financial and logistic resources of the project;
  9. Selection, recruitment, management and supervision of local staff;
  10. Reporting to the CISP Country Representative to Lebanon
