People in Need is a non-governmental, non-profit organization based on the ideas of humanism, freedom, equality and solidarity. It considers human dignity and freedom to be the basic values and believes that people anywhere in the world should have a right to make decisions about their lives and to share the rights expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.PIN strives for open, informed, engaged and responsible society that would be able to address problems at home as well as in the world and wants to actively participate in shaping a society where cultural, ethnic, racial and other differences are a source of enrichment rather than conflict.

PIN is an intrinsic part of the civil society. Its work is based not only on personal initiative and activity of hundreds of our employees and volunteers, both in the Czech Republic and in dozens of other countries, but also on trust and support we are endowed with by individuals, businesses, governments and international institutions.

The scope of its activities, particular areas and priorities are determined independently with respect to the level of urgency and to our real capacity to change something. It is not so important to have the work done everywhere, however it is essential to make a real difference.

Due to armed clashes between militia loyal to Kamuina Nsapu (KN) and the Armed Forces of DRC (FARDC) have occurred in Kasai region in Democratic Republic Congo, as of 29 May 2017 over 30,000 Congolese have fled to Angola over the last months.Approximately some 500 persons are arriving daily mainly from Kamako area to Angola. Refugees are staying at Cacanda and Mussungue reception centres, as well as in surrounding areas of Dundo. 78% of pre-registered asylum-seekers are women, children and elderly. Very few aid agencies are present in Northern Angola and ready to support the refugees.

People in Need (PIN) has been active in Angola since 2006. A team of 8 expatriates and approx. 70 local staff manage several programmes focusing on improving education, livelihoods and food security, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) conditions and gender-based violence that are implemented in Bié, Humabo and Huíla provinces.
