Video Contest: 2017 Environment and Emergencies Forum

Want a chance to attend a unique event that discusses innovations in environmental emergencies? The The UN Environment/OCHA Joint Unit (JEU) is looking for volunteers to develop short videos that reflect issues of environmental emergency preparedness, response or environmental risk in humanitarian action. The JEU team will select the best video and will offer travel and accommodation to the winner (one person) to attend the Environment and Emergencies Forum in Nairobi from September 26-28, 2017.

Deadline to submit your video is June 30 2017

The winner will be notified by email by July 17 2017

  Details What: Produce a 2 minute video that reflects your vision and/or reflections on one or more of the following themes: readiness for environmental emergency response, integrating environment in humanitarian operations, environment in conflict settings. You are free to tell any story you wish – either your own, something you witnessed, or something you want to share. The video must depict – in a visual and creative way, and from your personal perspective – one or more of the Forum themes. Examples of topics might include: natural resource management in refugee camps settings, disaster waste management, preparedness for technological hazards, environment in peacekeeping operations, using satellites to collect environmental data and monitor risks in conflict settings… These videos will be showcased during the Environment and Emergencies Forum to be held from 26 to 28 September in Nairobi, Kenya. 

Requirements: Only high definition photos and videos should be used to ensure a good viewing quality for the Forum’s participants. The UN Environment/OCHA Joint Unit will select the winner according to various criteria including originality, video quality, energizing value, accurate depiction of the chosen theme. The films can include interviews, video-clips, photos galleries etc.
