Academics and practitioners from various sectors are set to discuss the diverse facets of water security in dynamic environments and its relation to climate variability and change.
The Centers for Natural Resources and Development – CNRD (TH Köln), the International Network on Sustainable Water Management in Developing Countries – SWINDON (TU Braunschweig) in cooperation with Food Security Center – FSC and the Asian Institute of Technology – AIT are pleased to invite the community of renowned water experts working on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to propose sessions for the International Conference on Water Security and Climate Change (WSCC) 2017, September 18–21, 2017.
Achieving water security is one of the major challenges faced by society on both a global and local level today. Building bridges between disciplines, sectors and different groups of stakeholders, the conference will serve as a platform for discussions towards water secure societies by providing a stimulating environment with the intention to yield innovative ideas and grounds for implementation. WSCC 2017 follows the successful conference WSCC 2016 at the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok which united over 150 experts.
FRAMEWORK
The WSCC 2017 conference planning committee welcomes your abstracts for oral presentations and scientific posters. The submission period is March 31st to May 31st, 2017. Starting with a public opening event, the WSCC aspires to offer abundant opportunities for exchange. The main components of the conference are thematic sessions that can be linked with additional dialogue forums – tying the scientific community to policy, industry and society. All sessions will provide enough space for discussion. We highly welcome presentations which combine academic and practical approaches as well as the introduction of new dimensions and perspectives in the current discourse on water security. Accepted contributions to the conference will be published in the WSCC Book of Abstracts, a special book edition of the conference, and in selected academic journals. Each session is hosted by prominent organizations – experts in relevant fields. The conference is held in English.
