ECSP Is Seeking Winter/Spring 2017 Interns!

The Environmental Change and Security Program is seeking interns to write for our award-winning blog, New Security Beat, network with leading experts in the environment, development, and security, and work closely with the friendly, dynamic “Green Team” at the Wilson Center

Assignments may include:

• Drafting posts for New Security Beat and ECSP’s website
• Assisting with events and conferences
• Researching environment, development, and security information
• Assisting the preparation of publications and/or outreach materials
• Updating contact databases
• Performing administrative assignments in support of ECSP activities

Potential interns should be students and/or recent graduates with an interest in, coursework related to, and/or experience working on environmental and human security.

In addition, applicants should:

• Possess strong research, writing, and/or administrative skills
• Be detail-oriented
• Be able to work both independently and as part of a group
• Be enrolled in a degree program, recently graduated (within the last year), and/or have been accepted to enter an advanced degree program within the next year

ECSP currently offers unpaid internships. We are looking for candidates who are willing to devote at least 20 hours per week, up to a maximum of 35 hours per week.

An individual selected for an internship will be expected to present proper evidence establishing his or her eligibility to work in the United States prior to being appointed.  The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires employers to hire only individuals who are eligible to work in the United States.  Please note that we cannot sponsor a visa for you to work in the United States.

International students are eligible, but they must hold a valid F-1 or J-1 visa and appropriate work authorization.  All international students must obtain written permission from their Designated School Official (DSO) or Responsible Officer (RO) for visas at their university stating that they are in valid immigration status and eligible to do an internship at the Center.
