Adam Smith International is looking for an experienced International Environmental Safeguards Specialist to conduct an Environmental and Social Assessment (ESIA) for the construction and operation of large scale transmission infrastructure in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Skills and experience
Essential:
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience assessing the social impacts of infrastructure projects, including experience in carrying environmental studies including initial environment examination (IIE) and environmental impact assessment (EIA)
- Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering/Social Sciences, or similar
- Excellent written and communication skills
Preferred:
- Previous experience of conducting environmental studies, analysis and the preparation of ESIA reports in the power sector in developing countries
- Experience of working on large scale donor funded infrastructure development projects
- Experience of working in Afghanistan, or within the region
Commitment:
- Individuals can be located globally, but should be willing to travel to Afghanistan to engage with stakeholders, and oversee the management of national consultants.
