Afghanistan: Water Shortage Warning in Western Afghanistan

The Afghanistan Institute for Strategic Studies warned Friday of water shortages in the west of the country after a 50 per cent drop in the level of the Harirod River in Herat Province. A research carried out by that entity determined that the areas around the Harirod River face serious water shortages. The experts who worked on the research also pointed out that the excessive use of the liquid by neighboring Iran is a key element in the decrease in levels on the Afghan side.
