KADUNA, Nigeria — Gunmen shot, hacked and burned to death at least 100 people and razed homes in central Nigeria, a region shaken by disputes over land, religion and ethnicity, local officials and witnesses said Sunday. The police confirmed Friday’s raids by Fulani herdsman on three villages in Kaduna State, but declined to give a death toll. Dozens of people were killed in similar attacks in neighboring Katsina State last week, and hundreds have been killed in the past year in clashes pitting largely Muslim cattle herders against mostly Christian farmers.
