Afghanistan: Emerald Extractions Begin in Eastern Afghanistan Province

Afghan authorities formally started extractions of emeralds from its mines in the eastern Panjshir province, a statement of the provincial government said Tuesday. Afghanistan's Panjshir emerald, which had been extracted illegally by individuals over the past decades due to war and instability until recently, as high-quality precious stones are popular among the business community in the world.
