About the Job
The ICRC Water and Habitat Department recruits a Water and Habitat (WatHab) Engineer based in its Odesa office with frequent travel to Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. In close cooperation with the team members and with external stakeholders, and with guidance from the line manager, the WatHab Engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of engineering projects within the scope of the ICRC's infrastructure assistance objectives. In addition, the WatHab monitors on-site works, carries out needs assessments and surveys, and plans for new projects.

Tasks and Responsibilities
- Participate in site visits, collecting and compiling technical information related to the project and needs
- Work collaboratively with other departments during the day-to-day activities and within the responsibilities designated
- Participate in the preparation of tender documentation by elaborating on project design, bills of quantities, and costs' estimates for the proposed works
- Participate in the preparation of contractual documents, including advertisement, detailing payment terms, selection of winning contractor through criteria, and organizing payment according to measured works and ensure procedures and confidentiality are respected
- Supervise contractors to ensure that minimum standards of construction works are respected and are acceptable
- Provide information to their supervisor and project colleagues on stakeholder issues, security, and site progress
- Create and maintain paper or electronic files up to date
- Monitor and evaluate each activity of the project

Qualifications
To be successful as a Water and Habitat Engineer in the Water and Habitat Department, candidates should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:
- Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
- University degree in mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, water supply & sanitation or equivalent (hydraulic, energy, environmental, etc.)
- 3 to 5 years of professional work experience in a related field of activity
- Experience working with Vodokanal, Oblenergo, Cogeneration thermal plants, other humanitarian agencies, etc, is an added value
- Professional fluency in Ukrainian or Russian (spoken and written)
- Good level of English
- Proficient in the use of CAD software, electrical design software, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of project management is an asset
- An additional university certificate in a related field is an asset
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
- Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
