To ensure diversity of presenter viewpoints and background at the Third Conference, the Conference Organizing Committee has launched an "Assist a Scholar" campaign to raise money to fund travel grants to defray the costs of attendance.

The Organizing Committee will grant Travel Grant Awards funds raised in response to this request for needs-based grants to environmental peacebuilding professionals and students who might not otherwise be able to attend in person. A grant selection subcommittee will give preference to students and individuals from or residing in countries having Low- or Middle-Income Economies (“LMIC”) as defined by the World Bank classification system.

PLEASE CONSIDER SUPPORTING THIS EFFORT! We need your help to enable people from developing countries, as well as students, to have their voice heard on environmental peacebuilding!

Terms and Conditions

To ensure diversity of presenter viewpoints and background at the Third Conference, the Conference Organizing Committee has launched a travel grant program to defray the costs of attendance. Travel grants are intended for environmental peacebuilding professionals and students who might not otherwise be able to attend in person. The travel grant program only covers participation in the in-person portion of the Third Conference (19-21 June 2024), as well as the pre-conference events on 18 June; virtual participation in the online day (12 June 2024) is free.

Travel grants will be awarded by the grants selection committee based on financial need and candidate profile, with preference given to students and individuals from or residing in countries having Low- or Middle-Income Economies (“LMIC”) as defined by the World Bank classification system

A travel grant is intended to supplement other sources of funding for individuals on the program at the Third Conference, it is not meant to cover all the expenses incurred. In most instances, a travel grant will cover:

  • The registration fee; AND/OR
  • The costs of local accommodations, meals, and ground transportation in The Hague, based on a fixed daily rate set by the grants selection committee and to be distributed at the conference.

In exceptional circumstances, the grants selection committee may award a grant to partially or fully cover international travel expenses on a reimbursable basis. This may include economy-class bus, train, plane tickets, and driving-related costs; cancellation or change fees are not reimbursable. Travel costs will be reimbursed after the conference upon submission of receipts, within 30 days.

Applicants must:

  • Be confirmed as a speaker at the Third International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding;
  • Request the travel grant using the online Google form, which will also be linked from the EnPAx website;
  • Apply by the January 15, 2024 deadline;
  • Be able to satisfy any necessary visa or other applicable Dutch government requirements to enter the country and participate in the Third Conference;
  • In case of grant applications for international travel expenses: applicants will need to pay for travel up front, and seek reimbursement as appropriate and outlined herein. This includes preparing and submitting a request for reimbursement, detailing the covered travel expenses incurred. (The Conference Organizing Committee will not purchase the tickets.)
