SIPRI's Climate Change and Risk Programme is currently seeking an intern to join our team, starting on the 1st of September 2023. As an intern at SIPRI, you will have the unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in climate, peace and security research.

Internship Position


Under the supervision of the Programme Director for the Climate Change and Risk Programme, the intern will work collaboratively with the programme director and the climate change and risk programme, assisting in various aspects of the programme’s research and operational activities. This includes supporting research projects, conducting data collection and analysis, contributing to publications and reports, and participating in the preparation and conduct of relevant meetings and presentations. The internship will provide an opportunity to develop research skills specific to climate, peace and security.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with research projects and tasks related to climate, peace and security.
  • Conduct literature reviews and data collection on climate change impacts and mitigation strategies.
  • Support day-to-day operations of the programme and attend relevant meetings and presentations.
  • Help prepare reports, policy briefs, and other publications.

Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Currently enrolled or a recent graduate from a program focused on peace and conflict research or similar.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.

Internship Details


The internship is  full-time, with a duration of up to 6 months, depending on availability. The work will be performed in-person and in close coordination with the SIPRI team. Please note that SIPRI is unable to offer remuneration or sponsor visas/residency for internships.
