WWF is one of the world’s leading nature conservation organizations. They have been working for nearly 60 years and have offices in 100 countries, and started the program in Myanmar in 2014. They believe they can protect Myanmar’s globally important forests and rivers together. Find out more at www.wwf.org.mm.

Objectives of the consultancy

The main objective of the consultancy is to support the agriculture team with creating and implementing a three-stage aquaponic system. This system is expected to encourage farmers to solve the food crisis and to reduce environmental pressure due to overfishing and encroachment of the forest. Once the design is produced, the consultancy is expected to implement a successful prototype in a community agreed upon with WWF-Myanmar office. The village will be selected based on the following:

  1. Community willingness to participate.
  2. Availability of required materials.
  3. Safety and security standards.
  4. Available implementation space (for application reference, the prototype is expected to measure 28x15m2.

The final requirement of the consultancy is to create a ToT manual that can be used by the WWF-Myanmar team, jointly with the blueprints, to replicate the aquaponic experience in the villages that are relevant for the office conservation program.
