Call for Nominations: Al-Moumin Award and Distinguished Lecture on Environmental Peacebuilding [Deadline: October 15, 2022]

The Environmental Peacebuilding Association is seeking nominations for the Al-Moumin Award and Distinguished Lecture on Environmental Peacebuilding. The award and lecture are named after Dr. Mishkat Al-Moumin, Iraq’s first Minister of Environment, human rights and environmental lawyer, and an advocate for women’s rights. The award recognizes leading thinkers who are shaping the field of environmental peacebuilding. This will be the eighth award (for previous Al-Moumin laureates, see here). This award is co-sponsored by American University’s School of International Service, the UN Environment Programme, and the Environmental Law Institute.The Awards Committee welcomes nominations for the Al-Moumin Award until October 15, 2022. The nomination should include:

  • the nominator's name and email
  • the nominee's name, institutional affiliation and email
  • a description of the basis for the nomination, including evidence of impact (maximum 1000 words)
Supporting materials may also be submitted. Contributions in any format and language will be considered. Submissions in languages other than English are asked to provide an English translation where possible.Nominations should be sent to awards@environmentalpeacebuilding.org no later than 15 October 2022, with the subject line “Nomination for Al-Moumin Award.”
