The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and improve nutrition and food security.
The main objective of FAO in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, under the leadership of the Representative, is to assist the Government in developing and implementing policies, programs and projects to reduce hunger and malnutrition, ensure food security, develop agriculture, fisheries, forestry, the environment, as well as the sustainable management of natural resources. To achieve this, the Representation adopted a Country Programming Framework in December 2019 which specifies the priorities agreed with the Government as well as the strategic areas of intervention of FAO in the country, the resources to be mobilized and the cooperation framework with the other technical and financial partners present in the DRC.
Hierarchical position
Under the general supervision of the FAO Representative in the Democratic Republic of Congo assisted by the Deputy Representative and the Assistant Program Representative and under the direct supervision of the Deputy Representative, the project coordinator will work in close cooperation with the technical units, operations, logistics, monitoring-evaluation and communication of the Representation and technical units at headquarters.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the general planning of project activities, their implementation and monitoring in collaboration with WFP and UNICEF and the competent technical support services at headquarters,
- Provide political and technical leadership for better governance of a National Food and Nutrition Security Information System, in collaboration with technical partners (WFP, UNICEF, specialized government agencies, etc.)
- Generate timely and relevant food security and nutrition analysis products to inform evidence-based Humanitarian-Development and Peace nexus programming
- Develop integrated analyzes through national data MICS (UNICEF), EFSA (WFP) and RIMA (FAO) etc. in order to permanently strengthen the availability of information on food security, nutrition and resilience
- Organize capacity building workshops for statisticians and producers of agricultural, food security and nutrition statistics on resilience analysis ( Resilience Index Measurement and Analysis – RIMA), early warning systems and anticipatory actions (EWEA), etc
- Ensure the reporting and sharing of information on the progress of the project, at the frequency stipulated in the project document.
- Support resource mobilization
- Ensure the management of project personnel and their efficient use;
- Perform any other task that may be requested by the hierarchy.
Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:
Minimum conditions:
- University degree in economics, agricultural statistics, agronomy, rural development or any equivalent qualifications from a recognized University.
- Have a proven experience of at least 7 years in the management of food security and nutrition information systems strengthening projects, preferably in the context of the DR Congo.
- Fluent knowledge of French (level C) and a good knowledge of English (level B) for consultants. For PSA.SBS fluent knowledge of French is sufficient;
Selection criteria
- Good judgment, integrity, sense of initiative, high sense of responsibility and work organization
- Good analytical mind, good ability to work under pressure, ability to organize priorities
- Good ability to effectively and regularly exchange relevant information both inside and outside the organization
- Proven ability to work in a team in a multicultural environment and regularly maintain harmonious and effective working relationships both inside and outside the organization
- Knowledge of the United Nations system
- Previous experience with the United Nations and knowledge of United Nations regulations
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Knowledge of the humanitarian system and ability to understand the donor and government system
- Have experience in the implementation of projects / programs in the DRC and / or in other countries in Africa
- Have experience working and collaborating with government institutions;
- Have experience of working in countries with a humanitarian crisis situation.
- Superior computer skills in Microsoft tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Mastery of communication tools: Outlook and its functions distribution lists, reminders, synchronization etc.
- Experience in the United Nations or international NGO context is a plus
- Have proven skills in food and nutrition security analysis;
- Possess proven skills for multi-partner coordination and writing technical reports;
- Be able to work under pressure and have a good sense of human relations.
