The United Nations Development Programme is a United Nations organization tasked with helping countries eliminate poverty and achieve sustainable economic growth and human development.
The priorities of UNDP Syria are to enhance the resilience and socio-economic stabilization of individuals and communities through restoring the disrupted livelihoods of the affected communities; restoring, rehabilitating and maintaining sustainable basic services and infrastructures; and strengthening the social cohesion of communities to enable them to lead autonomous local recovery processes. UNDP Syria also leads the Early Recovery and Livelihoods Sector of the Syria Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP).
Mindful of the scale of the crisis, the scaled-up, targeted, and rapidly responsive interventions of UNDP Syria would strive to mitigate displacement and movement of refugees, including forced, illegal, and unsafe migration and the trafficking of refugees. Crucial to this objective is the decision to focus on stabilizing communities that host large numbers of displaced persons; the rapid support through peace dividends in areas of relative calm and where internally displaced persons return; and the promotion of social cohesion and the rule of law which is at the heart of the UNDP’s mission. Establishing respect for the rule of law is fundamental to achieving a durable peace in the aftermath of conflict, effective protection of human rights, and sustained economic progress and development. UNDP promotes effective, responsive, accessible and fair justice systems as a pillar of good governance. Good governance is undermined where access to justice for all citizens (irrespective of gender, race, religion, age, class or creed) is absent and rule of law is not guaranteed to all.
Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Resident Representative, and direct supervision of the Social cohesion and local development team leader, the community resilience analyst- technical advisor will be responsible for the development of, and the provision of support for, the effective implementation of UNDP’s policies, strategies and programmes in this Role of law Rule of Law, Justice & Security programmes aimed at restoring the Rule of Law and making justice and security bodies deliver for those most in need.
