For nearly a decade, the Environmental Peacebuilding Community of Practice has been critically examining the environment's role in peace and conflict, advocating for the productive potential of environmental justice and natural resource governance to contribute to a sustainable peace. Bringing a new lens to these intersections, the Environmental Peacebuilding Association is now launching an initiative to explore how art can inform, celebrate, and teach environmental peacebuilding scholarship and practice.

Call for Creative Submissions

The Environmental Peacebuilding Association invites creative submissions to be featured during the Second International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding. Submissions are welcome in any media exploring "Creative Accounts: Artistic Takes on the Connections between Nature and Peace."

Creative submissions can take any form, including but not limited to: photography, films, drawings, paintings, music, dance, theatre, poetry, and creative writing. Submissions may be physical pieces (e.g., a sculpture), digital works (e.g., reflective prose text), or digital representations (e.g., a recording of a theatrical performance).

Please send your submissions to: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdofRUgVc4idlBbNxIVu1DQE4_RA4FX8s2B7z1KgpUVXREwow/viewform. Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis until December 2021. Any artistic contributions hoping to include a live performance or presentation at the Conference should be in touch (conference@environmentalpeacebuilding.org) by 1st November 2021, if possible.

Selected contributors will also be encouraged to feature their work in the forthcoming Environmental Peacebuilding Art Digital Repository.

Call for Artists

The Environmental Peacebuilding Association invites artists working at the intersection of peace and the environment to join a new online directory of creative professionals. The directory will be used to help connect academics, development organizations, policymakers, and others seeking artistic collaboration on various projects to your work.

Art plays an essential role in developing ideas, promoting empathy, and raising awareness. Through art, we learn to approach things from new perspectives. And through the stories it tells, art reminds us of the purpose behind environmental peacebuilding.

Listing in the directory is free, and creators maintain all rights and ownership of any work shared as part of their listing or EnPAx's virtual exhibitions. Inclusion in virtual exhibitions is entirely optional, independent of the directory, and will be mutually agreed to on a case-by-case basis.

To join the online directory of creative professionals working at the intersection of peace and the environment, please fill in the form at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSclOCvC9dPQZDT3WpR_Vj-WbDCoihxNwuLi-EYjrlezOFygsQ/viewform?usp=send_form.
