EcoPeace Middle East is a unique organization that brings together Jordanian, Palestinian, and Israeli environmentalists. Our primary objective is to promote cooperative efforts to protect our shared environment. Our projects focus on transboundary environmental issues, water security, wastewater and renewable energy, and target youth, local communities, decision-makers, the private sector and the international community. EcoPeace is hiring an Investment and Entrepreneurship Officer to join our team in Tel Aviv.

The position involves:

1) Managing the Green Social Entrepreneurs Program for Young Professionals in Israel

The investment an entrepreneurship officer will manage the Green Social Entrepreneurs (GSE) program for young professionals in Israel, working in close cooperation with his/her Jordanian and Palestinian counterparts to expose participants to the possibilities and benefits of social entrepreneurship and encourage the development of solutions to environmental challenges. GSE targets young adults, water professionals, and entrepreneurs aged 21-35 with knowledge of or interest in business, water, social entrepreneurship, or green-tech, creating a cohort of 45 young Israeli, Jordanian, and Palestinian entrepreneurs who will advance innovative green enterprises that generate significant social and economic value Responsibilities including mapping of target groups and relevant partner organizations, supporting development of selection criteria and the selection process and coordinating national and regional trainings and meetings.

2) Identifying and supporting regional investment projects that involve the Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian private sector

The investment an entrepreneurship officer will promote private sector interest and financial investments in environmentally sustainable projects in the fields of agri-tech, eco-tourism, renewable energy, water and wastewater, with particular emphasis on the Jordan Valley. Responsibilities include identifying and mapping relevant investment opportunities in the Jordan Valley; leading mapping and investment case development and due diligence of business cases, developing investor events and meetings, building relationships with private businesses, investors, stakeholders and government officials to develop specific investment opportunities; and contributing high quality content to funding proposals and donor reports.

3) Be a focal point for program development of a virtual regional investment hub

The investment an entrepreneurship officer will eexamine the feasibility of establishing a Green-Tech/ CleanTech Virtual Investment Hub that will facilitate region-wide connections between investors and entrepreneurs and serve as a knowledge center that will provide access to business and technical support materials, contacts, marketing and investment opportunities and as a point of connection between GSE alumni and later stage entrepreneurs. Responsibilities include developing a feasibility study for a regional virtual investment hub, helping identify the most relevant content and partners, developing a long-term strategy and supporting fundraising efforts to facilitate the implementation of the initiative.

Requirements:

  • Business background, preferably in an entrepreneurship environment. Experience working with young entrepreneurs is an advantage.
  • Business management experience. Finance or Economics background preferred.
  • Proven experience in project management – building work plan, budget, content development and execution.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills (fluent English and Hebrew)
  • Very good writing skills – experience writing feasibility studies, business cases and/or grant proposals is an advantage
  • Knowledge of the incubators’ and the investment community is an advantage.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills
  • Positive, creative “can do” attitude, great problem-solving skills

The investment an entrepreneurship officer reports to the Israeli program manager. Some work related travel in the region (Jordan) and internationally may be required.
