The Second International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding will be held in Geneva in February 2022 with a consortium led by the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. The Environmental Peacebuilding Association (EnPAx) and our Geneva-based partners have launched the "Road to Geneva," an inclusive and consultative process to increase the number and diversity of voices leading up to the Conference. This two-pronged process includes:
1) A series of regional, national, and thematic events engaging people around the world on environmental peacebuilding issues relevant to their communities. The events will be held from fall 2020 through spring/summer 2021, and will largely be online. The goal of this series of events is to catalyze conversations on environmental peacebuilding and build momentum for the Conference by:
- Highlighting themes for consideration at the Conference
- Identifying promising approaches, experiences, and insights that might be of interest to others
- Identifying potential speakers who can elevate and diversify the Conference
For information on hosting or otherwise convening an event as part of the Road to Geneva, please contact conference@environmentalpeacebuilding.org. The online application form is available at https://forms.gle/FDs1fjgzTnHMp5vz6.
In late July, EnPAx and the Conference Organizing Committee will host an informational meeting about the event series with prospective host institutions. Institutions are encouraged to formulate event ideas and formally apply by September 1.
2) The Road to Geneva will also feature a series of flagship initiatives that meaningfully advance the field of environmental peacebuilding. The initiatives will be developed by the Association and partners, and will be showcased at the Conference. More information about the initiatives will be available on the Conference website as they take form. In the meantime, if you are interested in showcasing your initiative, please contact conference@environmentalpeacebuilding.org.
