We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Implement the Páramos and Forests work plan for Objective 1 per approved documents for eight BioREDD-supported REDD+ projects, especially measuring, reporting, and verification and assisting REDD+ communities to invest proceeds from carbon offset sales
- Strengthen partnership between REDD+ communities and the activity to ensure transfer of best practices for REDD+ project management and strengthen the ability of community councils and indigenous cabildos to take increasing responsibility for REDD+ project implementation
- Coordinate with the activity team on value chains and productive activities as viable alternatives to uncontrolled timber extraction or deforestation/land use change
- Support Chemonics, USAID/Colombia, and Colombian government counterparts to design regulatory and market policies and/or technical instruments to improve the effectiveness of the national REDD+ program
- Participate in and support activity events related to BioREDD+ projects on the Pacific coast and Colombian forest carbon regulations and markets
- Promote and commercialize carbon credits generated by BioREDD+ projects in international markets and through the Stand for Trees retail carbon sales platform. Promote Stand for Trees, seeking the best prices and conditions for carbon credits generated by BioREDD+ projects
- Ensure timely completion of activity reporting requirements, and contribute to annual work planning, budgeting, and meeting contractual requirements
- Draft sub-task orders issued under the fixed-price IQS mechanism, defining scopes of work for Wildlife Works Carbon staff and consultants, deliverables, implementation schedules, and associated costs, complying with IQS and USAID requirements
- Supervise 18 Wildlife Works Carbon staff and consultants, providing guidance and performance feedback and recruiting new staff or consultants
- Coordinate relationships, alliances, and activities with other key actors such as Fondo Acción and ecoPartners, the Ministry of Environment, and regional autonomous corporations
- Oversee financial management, administration, reports, and accounting of resources managed by Wildlife Works Carbon or its staff, and regularly report to Wildlife Works Carbon headquarters
- Ensure all staff and consultants comply with USAID, Chemonics, and Wildlife Works Carbon policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in forestry, agriculture, or related fields of natural resource management and environmental studies or a minimum bachelor’s degree with commensurate experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in REDD+ project implementation, forest monitoring, carbon verification, landscape conservation, or related natural-resource management, with a minimum five years of field experience.
