Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Syria, the guidance of the Deputy FAO Representative and direct supervision of the project manager, the project assistant, in close collaboration with the other technical staff of FAO, and particularly the Aleppo resilience officer, will support the implementation of FAO interventions in the Russian-funded project in Aleppo Governorate. The project assistant will accomplish below responsibilities and tasks:
- Supervise the implementation of FAO Russian project in Aleppo Governorate, districts, sub districts and villages of assignment in close coordination with the project manager, FAO technical staff and the staff of the directorate of agriculture in Aleppo;
- Ensure a proper local coordination with technical staff of the Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Ministry Of Water Resources Management, Ministry of Environment and other relevant line ministries, services and local authorities, across the three components of the project;
- Liaise with the FAO Implementing Partners to develop implementation schedules and ensure timely implementation of FAO component activities in according with the work plan of the project;
- Provide technical inputs and outputs of the mentioned project and submit regular progress reports to the project manager;
- Liaise and coordinate with all stakeholders related to the project activities;
- Integrate gender concerns in all relevant project activities;
- Closely liaise with the project manager in documenting evidence-based impact of FAO interventions in the project;
- Ensure preparation of all documentary permissions associated with implementation of the project (Travel Authorizations, Security Clearances, etc) on time;
- Perform any other duties requested.
Academic Qualifications:
- University degree in Agriculture Sciences or related field of study
Technical Competencies and Experience Requirements:
- At least 5 years of agriculture production, natural resource management, climate change, drought, Food and Nutrition Security interventions and related areas
- Water and soil management,
- Gender mainstreaming, and
- Working experience with Government UN, NGOs and Civil Society Organizations
