Head of Project - Cocoa, Coffee, LANN+ (m/f) in Kenema

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until October 31, 2020. There are good prospects for an extension. The place of work will be Kenema, Sierra Leone (SL). Taking the security situation into account, travel for work will be required.

As Head of Project you will manage and implement programmes and projects on the basis of specified directives in terms of content, schedule and budget in accordance with Welthungerhilfe standards and the directives/provisions of the co-financer. This project aims at fostering agricultural production by developing the value chains of cocoa, coffee and cashew and link them with nutrition sensitive approaches (e.g. LANN+).

Your responsibilities

  • Carrying out the project according to the rules and standards of the co-financing donors and Welthungerhilfe standards
  • Ensuring that all project relevant support is in place (monitoring, logistics, finance, administration, etc.)
  • Modifying and continuing project planning and the project budget
  • Developing of value chains of agricultural commodities
  • Linking commodity farming with nutrition sensitive approaches like LANN+
  • Supporting technical working groups with expertise for the development of national policies and standards
  • Coordinating and harmonizing approaches among implementing partners
  • Coordinating with national stakeholders on local and national level (e.g. Agriculture, trade, research)

Your profile

  • A relevant university / polytechnic degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in project management
  • Professional experience with tree crops production as cocoa and coffee is an asset
  • Excellent coordination and organisational skills, including ability to work under pressure
  • Co-operation and team skills
  • Very good oral and written command of English
