The project is financed by BMZ-TA and aims in increasing food security and income of rural households in the Central African Republic (areas of Mbaiki, Bouar, Bossangoa, Paoua, Yaloké und Bakéré) through improved access to quality seed and enhanced technical advice by government actors. The focus of the position is to ensure the implementation of project activities in line with its objectives, results and indicators.

As Expert for Agriculture you are responsible for coordinating knowledge transfer to the project partners institution through capacity building, participatory planning and implementation leading to a sustainable phaseout of the project. You will also ensure the coaching of local staff under your responsibility and you are mainly responsible for the field implementation of the project, interaction with project stakeholders and the appropriate use of funds. Furthermore you are responsible for coordination, planning and implementation, correctly and duly reporting to the Head of Project.

Your responsibilities

  • Planning, implementing and monitoring agricultural measures in the scope of Welthungerhilfe ‘s projects, result and impact control (incl. documentation)
  • Consulting and organisation/implementation of training for local staff, partner organisations and authorities
  • Support of the planning and drafting of new projects in the fields of agriculture, and food security about current ecological/ environment-related and security relevant problems. Development of suggestions for improvement of agricultural production and marketing methods in co-operation with local partners
  • Provide regular coaching and assistance to relevant partner staffs and famers’ organisation on the principles of organisational development (OD) and MELA; on data quality and the use of the data collection tools
  • Actively support, facilitate and participate in M&E meetings with key stakeholders

Your profile

  • A university of applied sciences degree in agricultural sciences, rural development, geography or a comparable specialised qualification suitable to the position
  • 3-5 years of project experience in planning and steering development-oriented transitional aid measures for international (aid) organisations, preferably in crisis regions or 5-7 years of working experience in research, extension or higher learning institutions
  • Experience with project management of different sectors (construction, agriculture)
  • Proficiency working experience with farmers’ organisations (FOs), organisational development (OD) and Private public partnership (PPP)
  • Good interpersonal communication skills but firm in compliance with all WHH and donor regulations and codes of conduct
  • Able to work under high pressure in difficult living and working circumstances
  • Fast worker, able to deliver high quality reports in the set deadlines
  • Fluency in French and ability to communicate in English
  • Intercultural competence and ability to work in a team
