Islamic Relief Worldwide is an international humanitarian organisation that provides development programs and humanitarian relief around the globe, regardless of race, political affiliation, gender or belief.

Islamic Relief Worldwide are recruiting for a Global Food Security and Livelihoods Advisor, who will work closely with Global operations and Humanitarian department to provide technical support in FSL. IRW believes in a resilience approach to FSL focused on adaptation and sustainable growth. The role will ensure IRWs programme design and implementation is founded on relevant technical standards and has impact. The role will ensure support to Country offices through training, developing IR wide communities of practice and more direct bid and implementation support. The role will generate learning internally, engage with external stakeholders, and externally publish best practice. The advisor is expected to travel extensively, sometimes at short notice.

The successful candidate must have or be:

  • Excellent knowledge of current sector trends in relation to FSL in the context of INGOs, in particular FSL and resilience programming across the relief- rehab- development continuum.
  • Experience of engaging, influencing and sharing best practice with external agencies and internal stakeholders. E.g. FAO, UNDP and UN Cluster system.
  • Experience of a leading role in FSL within an international development agency
  • Experience in developing and delivering effective capability training, technology based or face to face.
  • High standard of written and spoken English.
  • Willingness and ability to travel abroad (up to 60%)
