Myanmar: Villagers Protest Namtu Hydropower Project

Residents held a protest during the visit of U Sai Sam Tip, Shan State minister for Electricity and Energy, in Talong village, which will be affected by the Upper Yeywa Dam hydropower project on the Namtu River. Talong, which lies on the banks of the Namtu above the dam project site in Thibaw township in northern Shan, is located in an active war zone.
