Through taxes, in particular the reforestation tax, logging and mining operators in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) must pledge to restore landscapes they have damaged through their activities. To exploit a forest concession, or a mining plot, vast areas of forest and wooded savanna must be felled.
