Landmines and explosives not only cause thousands of injuries and fatalities every year - they also directly block access to farmland and grazing routes, water, food markets, healthcare and child nutrition services. Two thirds of people facing acute hunger live in just 10 countries where conflict is a key driver of food shortages and malnutrition, according to the 2026 Global Report on Food Crises.
