Myanmar: 3,000 Farmers Petition Thein Sein Over Land Grab

A petition calling for the return of 200,000 acres of land seized from farmers in Magway Region will be sent to President Thein Sein and the Parliament, representatives of the about 3,000 farmers who signed it said.

The decision to send the petition to the Thein Sein and the Parliament was made during a two-day meeting between more than 150 representatives of the farmers and MPs at the end of last month. Zaw Min, a presidential adviser, also attended the meeting.
