South Sudan: Deadly Famine Looms in South Sudan

More than two years after the outbreak of civil war in South Sudan, tens of thousands of South Sudanese face starvation, say NGOs. More than a third of South Sudan's population are classified as "severely food and nutrition insecure," an 80 percent increase compared to 2014, according to the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report, published in late November. This includes 40,000 people in war-torn Unity State who face "catastrophe".
