Sudan has halted iron ore production because of low prices while gold output is set to reach a record 100 metric tons next year, Minerals Minister OSheik Mohamed Taher said. Sudan could take over for Ghana as Africa’s second-largest gold producer, Taher said in an interview Tuesday at a mining conference in Dubai. Output was 40 tons in the first half, and is projected to be 82 tons for the year, he said.
