European Solar Prize 2017 Awarded to Ten Laureates in Vienna

The European Solar Prize Award is handed out every year to towns and municipalities, community businesses, associations or organizations, architects, journalists and individuals for their extraordinary accomplishments and significant contributions to the use and expansion of renewable energy. EcoPeace Middle East's Water & Energy Nexus project won this year's prize in the Category "One World Cooperation". The Water and Energy Nexus project aims at creating an Israeli – Palestinian - Jordanian water energy community that borrows from the European experience in creating healthy resource interdependencies that augment national security.  The concept is to investigate the feasibility of a water energy exchange whereby Israel and Palestine could produce desalinated water and deliver it to Jordan, and in exchange, Jordan could produce renewal energy and provide it to Israel and Palestine.
