Myanmar: Renewed Calls to Stop Dam Construction in Shan

Shan communities and local members of parliaments have renewed their opposition to two dams being built in Namtu and Nam Teng rivers in Shan State and are calling for the immediate halt of their construction. The residents, civil society groups and local legislators have expressed opposition to the dam since the project was first proposed by the previous military-backed government.
