Myanmar: Landmine Casualties Soar in First Nine Months

Forty-two people were killed by landmine explosions across the country in the first nine months of this year, a senior social welfare official said on Wednesday. U Win Naing Tun, director general of the Resettlement Department in the Ministry of Social Welfare, Rescue and Resettlement, said 168 people were injured in mine blasts through September, including 126 people who were left disabled.
