Companies and consumers alike are more aware of the goods they buy. Increasingly, they are looking to the supply chain to understand whether some of those purchasing decisions are supporting conflicts in warzones. The issue has risen up the corporate agenda since anti-conflict mineral stipulations were entered into the Dodd-Frank Act. The 2010 law mostly targets white-collar misbehavior on Wall Street, but it also requires transparency in the sourcing of gold, tantalum, tungsten and tin.
