Myanmar: Conservation Minister Admits Govt Has Failed to Stop Illegal Logging

The Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry is unable to control the illegal timber trade despite the export ban on raw logs imposed on April 1, its minister admitted in Parliament on September 17.Minister Win Tun also said that although his ministry had fine policies for forest management, it did not have an adequate grasp of what is occurring on the ground.
