A cross section of Civil Society Actors, citizens and interest groups of Bomi County has decried what they described as denial of benefits from extractions of minerals in the county. The citizens of Bomi raised the alarm over their concerns when a 12-month simplification version of the Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) between Government and concession companies brought relief and answer to their quests for solution against marginalization. Bomi County Chairman of the Liberia National Association of the Blind, Varney Sherman said: “The absence of development in the county, mostly the nine mining communities affected by the Western Cluster activities, is a clear indication of our denial to benefit what should be ours.” Chairman Sherman who lives in Nyuandee, one of the affected communities, expressed disgust and said the manner of suffering he is undergoing due to the destruction of his home by storm has seen him living in a pool of water while the authorities, including the company, pay little attention.
