Sudan/South Sudan/Abyei: UNSC Extends Mandate of Peacekeepers in Abyei

United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has extended the mandate of the UN peacekeeping mission of the contested rich-oil region between Sudan and South Sudan for six monhs.UNSC said in a press release seen by APA on Sunday that it members has extended the mandate of the Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) until 15 November. The press release stated that the 15-member body urged all parties to cease all forms of violence, human rights violations and abuses and demanded for safe humanitarian access to civilians. It further urged the both sides to urgently form the Abyei Area Administration and a Council.
