Afghanistan: 1,000 Tons of Fish Produced Every Year from Helmand River

As many as 1,000 tons of fish is produced every year from the Helmand River in southern Afghanistan, said officials on Wednesday. Agriculture Directorate of southern Helmand province said that 1,350 tons of fish meat is produced from the Helmand River. Agriculture Head Zalmai Alkozai said that some 260 fishing farms in a total of 600 acres of land exist in Helmand, producing 1,350 tons of fish annually.
