Trustees

EIA Trust is seeking two experienced and engaged individuals to join the Board of Trustees. We are seeking one Trustee with high-level fundraising experience and one Trustee with financial management experience in the voluntary sector. These are unpaid roles, although reasonable expenses will be refunded in line with EIA policies.

Trustees are expected to attend a minimum of four meetings a year, some of which will be face-to-face (at EIA’s north London offices in Islington) while others may be via Skype/conference call. In addition, Trustees may be to invited to join sub-committees which require active involvement. Trustees will also be expected to attend EIA events from time to time.

Trustees serve a term of three years, with potential to expand to a further three years after the first term ends.

Main Responsibilities

Trustees work with the Chair of Trustees and fellow Trustees to:

  • oversee the professional management and development of EIA Trust;
  • ensure good governance of the charity, in line with it’s governing document, agreed procedures and relevant legislation;
  • ensure timely responses to requests for grant funding from EIA.

 

Person Specification

Essential

  • either high-level fundraising experience or financial management experience in the voluntary sector
  • significant experience of working at a senior management / leadership level
  • understanding of and commitment to the work of EIA Trust or its family of associated organisations (EIA UK, EIA USA)
  • a willingness to engage contacts to advance the work of EIA Trust
  • understanding and commitment to environmental protection and wildlife conservation issues

Desirable

  • experience of being a trustee or board member of a charity or not-for-profit
  • leadership experience in the environmental community or a related field
