PAX is the largest peace organization in the Netherlands. We work to protect civilians against acts of war, to end armed violence and to build inclusive peace. We work in conflict areas worldwide, together with local partners and people who, just like us, believe that everyone has a right to a dignified life in a peaceful society.
The Humanitarian Disarmament programme at PAX seeks to address challenges around the use and proliferation of weapons and their impacts on security and the protection of civilians in armed conflicts. Within this thematic programme, PAX works on a diverse set of topics, ranging from nuclear weapons to conventional arms trade, and is looking to build expertise and knowledge on the relationship between conflict, climate, the environment, and peace. The current concentration of this work in Ukraine is on the environmental dimension of war, as well as the use of explosive weapons in populated areas. PAX aims to contribute to information collection, dissemination and advocacy on the wide range of environmental consequences through its own research and building networks of organisations active on this thematic issue.
To realize our ambitions in this field, we are currently looking for a consultant: Senior Project Officer Environmental and Civilian Harm Assessment in Ukraine
