Watershed and Development Initiative (WADI) is a one-year project funded by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) – International Programs. WADI project seeks to advance water conservation and land stewardship practices to build resilient communities and healthy watersheds by actively engaging local communities in building shared ownership in science-based practices that foster land ethics, sustainable water conservation, and land stewardship. WADI will be able to create viable ecosystems by establishing soil and water conservation sites that serve as reference models for scaling watershed restoration techniques. It will also be the knowledge broker for informed restoration decision making that can lead to aquifer recharge and healthy ecosystems in Jordan.

WADI project is seeking applications for Natural Resources Management Intern to join its team. The NRM Intern will work closely with the Natural Resources Management team to support WADI’s efforts to implement rangeland and forest restoration activities in line with the framework of WADI’s strategic plan.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide support to WADI Natural Resources Management team and other project team members as needed,
  • Provide support to WADI Natural Resources Management team in planning for future project technical activities,
  • Provide support for the cooperation with project partners and various stakeholders,
  • Provide technical support and routine follow-up to WADI project network of established nurseries,
  • Provide support on the selection of potential future nurseries,
  • Provide support and technical supervision on seedling planting techniques, inspection, seedling monitoring and evaluation of their survival,
  • Help in outplanting, day-to-day nursery activities, planning and implementing trainings and activities to local communities.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in agriculture – preferably in plant production, forestry and rangelands or any other relevant discipline.
  • Excellent computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint),
  • Possess organizational and time management skills,
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills,
  • Ability to work under pressure and within a team,
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (Spoken and written).

Type of Position: Full-time internship for up to six months. The internship is on a voluntary basis and no payment will be provided; WADI promises excellent training opportunity for the chosen candidate.

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Sunday to Thursday.

  • Receiving security clearance,
  • Proving that you have the right to live and work in Jordan.
