Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of WASH Officer, the WASH monitor shall support and / or monitor RI supported health facility to ensure that they meet WASH in health care setting standards of World Health Organization through construction / rehabilitation of sanitation facilities, water quality monitoring and chlorination, health-care waste management, infection prevention and control.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct WASH assessments to identify the needs and track the progress
- Conduct physical, chemical and biological water quality tests
- Monitor the segregation, collection and transportation of health care waste from the source to final disposal point. Operate the health-care waste disposal zone (incineration and the burial the waste) in technically appropriate and safe manner
- Participate in infection prevention control committees and monitor the implementation of infection control protocols
- Support / follow up the construction / installation works required for hospital WASH infrastructure. Support in preparing designs, drawings and Bill of Quantities
- Coordinate with M&E team members to establish strong monitoring mechanism
- Participate in regular meetings between WASH Assistants and RI program staff for direct feedback / discussion
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, biology or relevant area
- Experience in working with the water sector
- Experience in the humanitarian sector preferred
- Computer skills with knowledge of MS Word, Excel
- Familiarity with water sampling and quality testing equipment
