Created in 1979, our Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) – Action Against Hunger – is fighting against hunger in the world. Its mission is to save lives eradicating hunger through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, in particular during and after emergency situations caused by conflicts and natural disasters. Today, Action Against Hunger is a major player in the fight against hunger in the world. Structured on an international network, our organization provides a coordinated response in nearly 50 countries. Our priority is to have effective actions in the fields and testify about vulnerable population. Since the reasons for hunger are many, our response is multi-sectoral based on solid expertise. 

General description of the position

Under the management of the Country Director, with the support of the coordination team, you will oversee ACF interventions in the field and leads ACF strategic development in the region. 

Main responsibilities

In particular, you'll have to  : 

1/ Contribute to develop projects linked to ACF Jordan strategy in the area of intervention

2/ Coordinate overall implementation of ACF program in the field and manage the team

3/ Represent ACF at field level and coordinate with capital

4/ Ensure reporting, capitalization and accountability

Do you fit the requested profile?

  • You have an advanced degree in international development or other relevant fields 
  • At least 3 years experience in humanitarian/early recovery program management, with minimum 2 years in managerial role, you get also a subtantial knowledge regarding programme management in the field as well as regarding programme management in the field & standard logistics, financial and HR procedures and practices
  • You 've Excellent interpersonal, organizational, multitasking, management and communication skills, a High capacity of work, challenge-seeker with high degree of flexibility and autonomy and you're diplomatic, enthousiasm and professionalism
  • English language proficiency

Work Context

Jordan mission is a dynamic mission rapidly growing with large scale WaSH and Livelihoods projects being implemented in host communities and refugees camp. Mental Health sector will be shortly implemented in the North (Irbid). Country strategy combines emergency and development projects to address needs of Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanian in an holistic approach. With a team of 11 international employees and more than 100 national colleagues, Action Against Hunger Jordan office manages a portfolio of projects for more than 9 millions €, in response to the Syria crisis in Northern and Eastern Jordan. The donors range vary from institutional funds (UNICEF / MADAD) to bilateral agreements (AFD / GIZ / Taiwan). To support the 2 operational bases and the coordination office which is based in Amman.

Azraq base, with approximately 50 national employees, covers activities in Azraq Camp where Action Against Hunger is the major WaSH actor to adress the needs of 35,000 individuals, and in host communities, in Azraq town with a Solid Waste Management project implemented in collaboration with the Munipality. 

Jordan is considered as a stable country where security conditions enable a safe implementation of the projects.
