STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Completion of secondary school education, a post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable, with Minimum (5) years of progressively responsible work experience in data management (data cleaning, data analysis), geographic information systems (GIS), mapping, data analysis. Candidates holding BA degree with (3) years of experience in the mentioned fields can be considered.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.

JOB PURPOSE

Programme Associate (Geographic information system & vulnerability analysis and mapping) will provide effective specialized support and technical analyses to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Assist in cleaning and reviewing data from quarterly food security outcome monitoring, annual food security and vulnerability assessments and other data as needed.
  • Assist in testing all electronic data collection tools.
  • Strengthen the visualization of M&E and VAM data.
  • Produce maps (static maps and web map) based on monitoring and assessment data.
  • Liaise with Programme Activitiy Managers to ensure that their data visualization needs are addressed, i.e. maps covering their programmes, interests are produced.
  • Produce on monthly dashboards based on market price data. Support the narrative analysis of the market price bulletins. 
  • Review price data received from the Department of Statistics (DoS) and liaise with the DoS market price focal point when needed to address inquiries, etc.
  • Work with the VAM market price focal points in the Regional Bureau to support the country office’s participation in the Safety Nets Alert Platform (SNAP)/Alert for Price Spikes (ALPS) system.
  • Ensure timely market price data is uploaded to the HQ VAM portal on a monthly basis.
  • Work with the Business Analysis Unit (BAU) to strengthen the integration of VAM and M&E data in the triangulation database.
  • Maintain a working library of spatial data, print and plot maps, as requested.
  • Perform any other duties within his/her professional competence as required to support unit programme objectives.
