Myanmar: MPs Back Calls for Deforestation Action

The Lower House has unanimously approved a proposal to handle illegal logging and the timber trade in accord with a law submitted by MP Kyaw Aung Lwin for Saytoaktara.  Kyaw Aung Lwin said: “Our ancestors preserved forests and timber, our natural heritage. But now the forests are shrinking. Ward administrators and township officials are involved in the illegal timber trade.”
