The Supreme Court yesterday heard the appeal of a former general in the Prime Minister’s Bodyguard Unit who was jailed five years for forging documents and grabbing land belonging to a neighbour. Presiding Judge Kem Sothavy identified him as Pov Sovann, 57, a former two-star general, who lived in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district. He was convicted of grabbing more than 10 hectares of land belonging to Lao Any, 51, a businesswoman, in Preah Sihanouk province in 2011.
