Sierra Leone: Sierra Leone News: Five Mining Companies Still in Operation

Despite the weak market conditions in the country, only five mining companies: African Minerals Limited, London Mining, OCTEA, Sierra Rutile and Sierra Minerals are continuing with their normal operations. Minister of Finance, Kelfala Marah disclosed that “there has been minimal impact on the production activities of these companies. Production data for the first half (January to June) of 2014 indicate that African Minerals Ltd exceeded its iron ore production target for the period by 14.7%”.

He told a news conference yesterday at the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists, that the production of Ilmenite and Zircon by Sierra Rutile also exceeded the production target for the first half of the year.
