Liberia: Speaker Tight-Lipped On $25,000 Controversial Check Payment

Monrovia — House Speaker Alex Tyler remains tightlipped on the controversial payment of US$25,000 by the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) as consultancy fees for the reform of Liberia's oil sector.

Speaker Tyler is representing the people of Clay district in the House of Representatives.

He (Speaker Tyler) and Montserrado County district # 15 Representative Adolph Lawrence have been linked to the scandal.

Speaking in an interview on Thursday, October 2, 2014 with legislative reporters at the Capitol Building in Monrovia, the Bomi County lawmaker said he will reserve all comments until the outcome of the LACC report.
